PPA Supports Development of Batu Ampar Container Terminal Port (TPK) into an International Transhipment Port

PPA supports the development of Batu Ampar Container Terminal (TPK) in Batam as an international transhipment port to improve connectivity and logistics efficiency. On May 6, 2024, a signing of the Container Yard construction project between PT Persero Batam and PT Waskita Precast was carried out, witnessed by ministry officials and industry businesses. This modernization includes installing sophisticated equipment, reclamation, and construction of a pier, with a target to increase capacity from 600 thousand TEUs/year to 2.1 million TEUs/year by 2028, as well as potential logistics cost savings of up to Rp4.8 trillion. Strategically located in the Strait of Malacca and supported by Batam’s status as a Free Trade Zone (FTZ) and Special Economic Zone (KEK), this project was expected to encourage industrial growth, logistics business, and exports-imports in Batam.
